I was born in Belle Harbor, New York and raised in Detroit, Michigan.A graduate of Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.I married, taught school in Missouri and Michigan and raised four wonderful children.Moving to California with my husband and family in 1979 I indulged my lifelong interest in Fine Art through the Community College system and private instruction. I credit my professors Kamillia Hardy, Estelle Orr, Mark Leysen, Jeff Horn, Corrine Hartley, Lynn Goodin and Janice DeLoof as major influences on my artistic growth and development along with a host of fellow artists and friends whose encouragement and direction have spurred me on.
I am an oil painter and a pastelist. I love the tactile feeling of pastels and the beautiful color and excitement that occurs when applying them.Oil paint satisfies my need to work with wet medium.I alternate the work and the pleasure I find in both mediums is a constant journey of surprise and delight. My work is expressive representational and encompasses a variety of subjects.I am intrigued by color and form and the everyday activities I observe in daily life.I especially love subjects connected to home and family.I love quirky scenes in which people are caught doing what comes naturally.
My journey has taken me to many interesting people and sites. The exploration of drawing and painting is for me a fascinating pastime. I hope that the work interests you and you enjoy the pictures.
